Inclusion Criteria:

- MRI diagnosed bone marrow edema

Exclusion Criteria:

- any prior antiresorptive or osteoanabolic treatment

- any prior therapy with strontium ranelate

- Hyper-/hypocalcemia

- malignancies

- pregnancy

- and contraindication against denosumab or teriparatide
