Criteria

Inclusion Criteria:

• DSM-IV bipolar disorder I or II

• Depressive phase

• Drug-naive or drug-free

Exclusion Criteria:

• Serious medical or neurological conditions

• DSM-IV substance-related disorders (within 12 months prior to participation)

• Mentally retarded
