Inclusion Criteria:

• outpatient colonoscopy

Exclusion Criteria:

• allergy to propofol , midazolam, meperidine, eggs or soybean

• history of colonic resection

• inability to understand spoken/written English

• dementia

• pregnancy

• unwillingness to participate in the study
