Jose has a wide range of experience in various aspects of healthcare from clinical practice, managed care, medical communication, clinical research, academe, consultancy to hospital finance. He has worked with Manila Central University College of Medicine, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, Thomson-Gardiner Caldwell, Quintiles, Ingenix, Omnicom, and Elsevier. He is presently connected with one of the leading hospital systems in the Northeast focusing on clinical documentation, quality improvement and healthcare data analytics. He is a graduate of the University of the Philippines, Far Eastern University-Institute of Medicine, and pursued further studies at the University of California at Los Angeles Extension and Clinical Research Academy of America. As an avid netizen, he has strong interest and passion in digital and internet technology.
William Van Nostrand
Mr. Van Nostrand brings 40 years of Life Science experience to CTX. Bill was one of the pioneers in the CRO industry having founded In Vivo, Inc and building it into one of the largest late stage CROs in the world. In Vivo was one of the first companies to ever incorporate RDC to capture data from the physician’s office and the first company to conduct Electronic Patient Randomization. In addition, Mr. Van Nostrand helped build on one of the first global safety systems as well as an automated regulatory affairs risk management system. He was a key consultant to Apple Corporation in assisting them to utilize their Operating system, hardware, and apps in clinical settings. Van Nostrand was also a consultant to Pfizer in their build-out of an EMR system for clinical support. He has held numerous management positions at Dendrite International, FCG, and The Copernicus Group IRB. He is currently the EVP of Business Development and Marketing for WCCT Global.
Thomas A. Paivanas, MHSA
Mr. Paivanas is the Executive Director of The CUSP Group, LLC a provider-centric Trials Management Organization (TMO) focusing in the area of uro-oncology research. CUSP’s two fold vision is to constitute and continuously harmonize a research network of large established uro-oncology practices in the United States, and to closely collaborate with industry and foundation sponsors to support the design, development and execution of clinical, econometric and ethnographic research. CUSP business model is to be a primary conduit of all aspects in a multi-center clinical research study executing and facilitating all activities between the sponsor, the network, and each individual site. Mr. Paivanas is also the President and Founding Director of Thomas A. Paivanas & Associates (TAP&A) and has over 30 years of experience in the healthcare field. The firm specializes in assisting clients in realizing particularly difficult oncology and healthcare opportunities and challenges. Areas of interest and expertise include oncology program integration across multi-institutional venues, strategic business planning for stem cell transplantation, academic and community hospital partnering, primary market research for pharmaceutical industry, strategic planning for private and faculty physician’s practices, practice mediation, strategic business planning for biotech companies, and comprehensive community cancer program development.
J Alan Shemelya
In the industry for 30 years, his experience includes roles with a number of leading healthcare information technology and consulting companies, with principle responsibility for Sales, Product Development, Marketing and Implementation of EMR, ERP, Claims Administration and Financial solutions here in North America, Europe and Asia. At Prolifics, he is responsible for the worldwide healthcare practice, developing solutions for improving the enablement of business processes, technology and outcomes supporting the provider, payer, life sciences and Pharma business goals. Prior to joining Prolifics, he was with Parallon working in a leadership role to improve the application infrastructure and business intelligence for the enterprise solutions encompassing EMR, ERP, and Workforce, for a nationwide hospital delivery system with over 160 acute care facilities. He has held past positions with Parallon, Xerox, Allscripts and McKesson managing sales, product marketing, implementation, and research for clinical, financial, and payer systems supporting the provider and or payer operations. He has managed the development of healthcare applications founded on IBM, Microsoft and Oracle technologies.
